Recycled timber – machining

September 26, 2012

As 2012 rolls on, so are our diverse orders and customer enquiries. We have had our fair share of challenges and changes, leading to our successes. Our steel central-stringers are always popular, with many orders in place, and now our new steel spiral staircases are proving to be popular also.

The use of recycled timbers have been extremely popular in recent years, with many Timberzoo customers coming to our factory to request machining for their custom furniture and fittings. We are only too happy to help with machining, as we can pick up the material from Timberzoo and deliver the finished items locally. Drop by after seeing Timberzoo and we will assist you with a quote.

Our highlight this month is the machining and supplying the island bench top and large table for Jamie’s Ministry of Food Geelong. We are working with Timberzoo to bring this special order to life and have donated part of the order to The Good Foundation, to show our support of this important venture. The new Centre is opening on Saturday 6th October and located at 106 Moorabool St, Geelong.

If you want to find out more about Jamie’s Ministry of Food, go to The Good Foundation website.

If the Ipswich Ministry of Food Kitchen, designed by Druce Davey of Greener Kitchens, is anything to go by, the Geelong Kitchen is going to be fabulous.  Click here to have a look around the Ipswich Kitchen.

Another one of our recent machining jobs was for the Batesford Hotel, 700 Ballarat Road, Batesford, who required bar tops and wall cladding for their bar area.

I managed to have dinner at their Bistro recently, which by the way was divine (you have to try the Lamb Shanks!), and had a look at the finished product for myself.  The locals love the finish as it has brought the warmth back to the bar area.  You might have to watch your step when you visit though as I thought I was about to fall through a trap door. It wasn’t an open trapdoor, instead they have glazed a part of the floor which is above the old storage area.  The lighting to this area is very effective.  Great work on the restoration/renovation guys. I look forward to my next visit.

The following images show the bar area while it was being renovated. New photos will be posted in the near future.

The Batesford Hotel are currently finishing up on the final touches of their function room and gardens. We have also assisted with benchtops and cladding in this area.  I am sure the owners would love for you to go and visit soon.

Steel spiral staircases

In past years we have found many of our customers and enquiries have been requesting steel external staircases, mainly for a secondary access to the home. Local architects are specifying that spiral staircases are the preferred choice as they require a smaller footprint and take up less space, giving their clients additional space to their outdoor areas.  After much discussion and planning, we are now producing our steel spiral staircases.

These images are of one of our partially completed orders.

We have produced three spiral staircases in the last three months and have another on order.  Each one can have a galvanised or powder-coated finish.  I wish to thank GB Galvanising for helping us with the wonderful finishes we have seen so far.

Our New Office

No, we have not moved! Our office is now located in front of our factory.  With this new move, came some new displays.  Thanks to all of you who have referred your clients to come and visit our showroom for final selection of styles and finishes.  Our new displays give our customers the opportunity to get their hands on the product, which helps in making final choices.  Feel free to drop in and have a look.  You might be surprised with our range.

I hope to have new photos posted in the gallery soon, including some exciting HIA Best Home entrants.  Good luck to all the builders who enter their homes.  In the meantime, take care and chat soon.
